Andrew Coogan is a photographer who is not constrained by the sandbox the world wishes to contains us in. Through his images he shows places that are hidden and forgotten; in some cases a world that no longer cares or wishes us to remember.
Beyond fences, walls and boarded doors access is gained undercover and out of sight of those who do not want us to enter. Aware of the potential risks that come with this, it allows him to take control and decide for himself.
The images show that even through abandoment and decay there is still beauty to be found within these places. Sometimes serene and sometimes haunting, through his eyes we are allowed a brief glimpse into a world long gone.
Andrew's journey to document these locations has taken him all over the UK, Belgium, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria and the Ukraine.
He has had work published and has been exhibited from his Chernobyl series.
